5 vínculos de Diana Taurasi con Argentina

Solo con saber que su nombre entero es Diana Lorena Taurasi queda más que claro que sus raíces no son estadounidenses. Y es que en ningún momento ha ocultado su conexión con Argentina. Su madre, Liliana, es argentina, y su padre es hijo adoptivo del país. Mario Taurasi es italiano, pero desde los 5 años se mudó a Argentina.

Sus padres se mudaron a Chino, California, en donde nació la leyenda del baloncesto y dio sus primeros botes a una pelota naranja. Aunque a lo que hemos venido aquí a es a conocer algunas anécdotas y facetas que vinculan a Diana con el país natal de su madre:

1- Una vez en un partido contra la Selección Argentina cantó con la grada albiceleste al cántico de: «Soy argentino, es un sentimiento, no puedo parar…«, además de mostrarse muy cercana con las jugadoras locales del pre-clasificatorio olímpico en Bahía Blanca.

2- Para ser seleccionadora argentina, en tono de humor dijo: «Si hay alfajores y dulce de leche, sí«, aunque ya ha dejado claro que su destino está siendo dueña de una franquicia de la WNBA y mejorando económicamente el baloncesto femenino.

3- De pequeña jugaba al fútbol, su padre fue portero profesional jugando en Argentina. Por lo que con esa influencia en su casa era normal que empezara con ese deporte. Aunque luego todos sabemos que su camino fue con la pelota naranja.

4- Es una gran fanática de Rosario Central. Estuvo en el estadio Gigante Arroyito para ver la final de la Copa de Sudamérica de 1995 contra Atlético Mineiro. Por lo que su amor por el fútbol argentino es algo que viene prácticamente desde siempre.

5- Ve todos los partidos de la Selección Argentina de fútbol. Aunque a la hora de ver partidos de equipos hay separación entre parte de la familia que es de Rosario y la otra mitad de Newell’s Boys.
